  • Warping and shrinkage – Uneven cooling or inconsistent wall thickness can cause parts to distort or fall out of specification.
  • Sink marks – Thick sections cool unevenly, creating visible surface depressions.

  • Insufficient draft- Proper draft angles allow the part to release cleanly from the mold, helping prevent sticking, damage, and other defects. This can also require more complex tooling solutions and increase mold costs.
  • Undercuts- Features that prevent a part from being removed directly from the mold may require side actions, lifters, or other specialized tooling, increasing mold complexity, cost, and maintenance requirements.
